Elect Judge Phyllis R. WilliamsI am one of four Judges on DeKalb State Court, Division B. Division B is a specialized court that handles the judicial process for traffic ticket cases. Many people are not aware that, in Georgia, traffic offenses are considered misdemeanor criminal offenses.
In addition to collecting fines and fees from drivers who violate traffic laws, we also provide resources to educate drivers on the consequences of bad driving behavior. More about Judge Williams.
Traffic Violators Impact Program
To that end, every other month, I sponsor a Traffic Violators Impact Program (TVIP) in my courtroom. The TVIP program is dedicated to reducing traffic violations and deaths due to car crashes through education and awareness. What is shared is a wake-up call to all who experience the program about their own driving habits, and hopefully, the experience will change their way of thinking when behind the wheel.
